Two days of cleaning and educating locals about the importance of conserving the sea and its marine species were successfully completed in conjunction with civil bodies and volunteers on the riverbed of the Santiago stream and surrounding streets.

On both days of the activity almost 2 tons of solid wastes were collected, including plastic bottles and bags, polystyrene, tires and parts of domestic and electronic appliances, materials that locals unfortunately throw into the bed of the stream, unaware of the danger they can cause to the environment.

This activity was possible thanks to the support of the Vista Playa de Oro Manzanillo hotel, in coordination with the Arriva Hospitality Group Foundation, Verde a la Mexicana, the Environmental Link Group, Haramara Scuba Diving, SERUR hardware group, as well as volunteers led by Señores Carmelo and Jose, who kindly offered the use of their trucks to transport the collected waste.

There are plans to clean the seabed in January and February, at a point where the Santiago stream enters the ocean, in order to remove all the waste that is contaminating the environment.
